The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool is so intense that no player has directly moved between both northwest clubs since Phil Chisnall all the way back in 1964.

According to reports from The Metro this morning, however, the Reds could be about to break that unofficial half-century transfer embargo with a summer bid for United striker Javier Hernandez.

The Mexico international has spent the season on loan at Real Madrid and will be disappointed with a return of just four goals in 22 appearances for the European champions.

His Premier League record is much stronger however, with 59 goals in 154 outings for the Red Devils despite almost half of his appearances coming from the bench.

Chicarito will have just a year left on his Old Trafford contract come the summer so Louis van Gaal will be forced to either sell or offer the Mexican poacher a new deal.

The Metro believe Liverpool will stump up £14million for him – but a poll in March, as reported by us at This Is Futbol, revealed 51% of United fans want to see ‘Little Pea’ back at Old Trafford next season.

LVG should not make that mistake of letting Chicharito move away. Let him bring him back bcus he’s better than Falcao.
