Last week, This Is Futbol informed you of Chelsea’s interest in Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling, following news that he’d turned down several lucrative contract offers that would extend his Anfield stay past 2017.

According to reports from The Express this morning, however, he’s not the only Liverpool-based England international to have popped up on west London club’s radar due to a contract dispute – they’re also targeting vice-captain Jordan Henderson.

The Three Lions midfielder has been in exceptional form this season – particularly since the turn of the year – as he auditions to permanently take over as Reds skipper when Steven Gerrard departs for the MLS this summer. The 24 year-old has bagged six goals and seven assists in 29 Premier League appearances, whilst averaging the most passes per-match of any Reds player.

But Henderson’s contract situation is even more precarious than Sterling’s, with his Anfield deal now on the verge of entering it’s final twelve months. The Express claim he’s rejected a new contract worth £80k per-week, subsequently triggering Jose Mourinho’s interest.

Although Liverpool can play hardball with Sterling, they’re running out of time in regards to Henderson. If they don’t wrap up his contract dispute during the next few months, plenty of Premier League clubs will be eyeing the chance to take him off the Reds’ hands.
