Arsenal set to sign Liverpool-linked England star

James Milner

According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Manchester City’s James Milner is set to reject contract offers from both his current club and Liverpool to sign for Arsenal this summer.

The 29 year-old has made 40 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League champions this season, scoring six goals, and they want him to sign a new deal at the Etihad.

But the England international remains reluctant due the limited assurances over long-term role in the first team – especially if manager Manuel Pellegrini gets the sack this summer – and has resultantly been linked with summer moves to several clubs across the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A, including the likes of Liverpool, AC Milan and Roma.

According to The Daily Star, however, it’s Arsenal who have won the race for Milner’s signature, with the Three Lions midfielder set to snub contracts from City and Liverpool.

He’ll join a strong cohort of England internationals already at the Emirates, including Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck, Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers.
