Radamel FalcaoRemember back in September of last year, when The Red Devils were embarrassed by Leicester City, succumbing to a 5-3 defeat at the King Power Stadium? It’s the kind of thing that’s difficult to wash out of your mind, especially if you happen to be a Manchester United fan.

Luckily, Louis Van Gaal’s side were slightly better prepared for Leicester City this time around. The Red Devils ended up winning last weekend’s showdown at Old Trafford 3-1. Better still, Radamel Falcao, the club’s on loan striker, managed to find the back of the net (with a tasty finish, no less).

After all, the Colombian sensation still has a lot to prove. There’s no doubting his goal-scoring potential, but as of yet, he’s been unable to produce the goods on a regular basis for Manchester United. He’s currently on loan from Monaco, so he needs to start scoring more if he’s to secure a long-term role in English football. If things continue along the same lines, he could be shipped off back to France at the end of the season.

Radamel Falcao has taken part in 16 games this season, but he’s only managed to find the back of the net four times. Given that he scored 70 goals in 91 games for Atletico Madrid and 72 goals in 87 games for FC Porto, I’d argue that he should be doing better. His new manager certainly seems to feel the same way.

When asked whether he was happy to see Radamel Falcao score, Louis Van Gaal responded as follows:

“I am more happy that Falcao was scoring because Robin has already scored enough goals. Falcao needs that goal more than Robin. It is fantastic that they scored – and beautiful goals also.” (Source: The Express)

Now that Radamel Falcao has shaken off his injury worries he should be ready to start finding the back of the net on a regular basis. He may not replicate the form he showed at Madrid and Porto, but he can do better. He’s got the backing of his manager and his team-mates, so now he’s got no excuse.

Let’s hope that there are more ‘beautiful’ goals to come.

What’s your take? What does the future hold for Radamel Falcao?
