Arsenal & Tottenham hit form: who will come out on top?

Mauricio PochettinoArsenal and Tottenham have both been wildly inconsistent this season but are now both starting to hit their stride. Mauricio Pochettino and Arsene Wenger have been through their wringer this year, but now their class is shining through. I’m pleased, in particular, for Wenger, who’s constantly sniped at by members of the press. He’s often made to look like a buffoon, but he’s now in charge of the Premier League’s in form team.

Spurs aren’t too shoddy either. Now that they’ve finally found a killer centre-forward (without having to reach out into the transfer window, no less), they’ve really found their grove. Their 3-0 win over West Brom was a show-case for everything that’s good about this Tottenham side.

Their defense soaked up anything that came their way (with Hugo Lloris stepping in whenever necessary), their midfield controlled possession (with Christian Eriksen and Moussa Dembele impressing) and Harry Kane continued his fine run of form in front of goal.

The 21-year-old has scored 20 goals in 33 games this season, making him one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League. How long until Real Madrid start sniffing around?

As it happens, Arsenal have plenty of stand-out players of their own. Whilst their defense remains as shaky as ever (despite all the clean sheets in recent weeks), their midfield talent is (arguably) unrivaled in the Premier League. Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez are surely destined for the PFA Team of the Year, whilst players like Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are re-finding their feet after injury.

Upfront, The Gunners have Olivier Giroud seemingly scoring goals for fun. The big Frenchman has scored 7 times in 13 times this season, despite all his injury problems.

All this is sure to make for an exciting show-down next week in the North London Derby. Both sides are in form and raring to go. It’s hard to call.

Given that the game’s taking place at White Hart Lane, I’m inclined to lean in Tottenham’s direction, but The Gunners will give them one hell of a game. It’s going to be interesting to see which players step up and which ones miss the mark.

What’s your take? Who’s set for victory next weekend: Tottenham or Arsenal?
