Paulo DybalaYou would think that Manchester United were pretty well sorted for strikers, but they keep picking up links to fresh talent. With Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao leading the line (not to mention Javier Hernandez on loan at Real Madrid), do The Red Devils need anybody else?

It’s hard to say. One thing’s for sure, Robin Van Persie isn’t getting younger. Wayne Rooney’s no longer a spring-chicken either. Oh and what about Radamel Falcao’s, who’s currently on loan from Monaco. I think it’s fair to say that his Manchester United future is uncertain at best. Check out these comments from his agent, Jorge Mendes:

“He will play in one of the very best clubs in the world next season, whether that is Manchester United or not.” (Source: The BBC)

However you try and twist things, it’s clear enough that Manchester United are lacking in young attacking talent. Don’t be surprised if Louis Van Gaal decides to invest in this area.

This brings me to The Metro‘s surprise claims that The Red Devils have their eyes set on Palermo star, Paulo Dybala, who they label, ‘one of the most sought after young forwards in the world’. He also happens to be an Arsenal target, so any potential deal could irk Arsene Wenger (which most United fans will see as a bonus).

Unfortunately for Manchester United, he’s not going to come cheap. The Argentine ace is currently valued at £31m. Still, the aforementioned source quotes Palermo chief, Maurizio Zamparini, who confirms that Manchester United ‘have been in contact’. It looks like the club’s interest is genuine.

And why wouldn’t they be interested? Dybala is only 21-years-old, but he’s already scored 9 goals in 18 games this season. He’s also earned comparisons to Sergio Aguero for his speed and technique (and his nationality). He could prove to be a major signing.

But can Louis Van Gaal beat Arsene Wenger to the punch?

Let’s hope so.

What’s your take? Would Paulo Dybala be a hit at Old Trafford?
