Should Liverpool make an ‘extraordinary bid’ for this Premier League talent?

Yannick BolasieThe Reds have been linked to a lot of different attacking options this January, as Brendan Rodgers is currently attempting to add a little more cut-and-thrust to his front-line. One player whose name keeps popping up is Yannick Bolasie.

The Crystal Palace winger has been in impressive form this season and I’d argue that he has the pace, technique and attacking endeavour to make a mark at Anfield. Unfortunately for Liverpool, the player’s manager, Alan Pardew, isn’t in any hurry to sell him. Check out his comments here:

‘Like with any player you can never say never, and I learned that at Newcastle, losing Andy Carroll on the last day of the window. So never say never but I think it would take an extraordinary bid to take him away from this football club in the situation we are in. I would be very surprised if any club wanted to make that phone call.’ (Source: The Metro)

That’s some serious fighting talk from Alan Pardew, but I wonder if he’s in a position to make such claims. If he were at a bigger club and laid more claim to significant financial fire-power, then perhaps he’d be able to be bullish in regards to keeping his players.

Unfortunately, he’s at Crystal Palace, a side who could at best aspire to a mid-table finish. If a big team like Liverpool comes knocking, then players are likely to have their heads turned. After all, most footballers are drawn to two things: money and the opportunity to win silverware.

The Reds could provide Yannick Bolasie with both. If they’re genuinely interested then it’s going to effect the player’s mindset one way or another. Crystal Palace may well decide that cashing-in is a better move than keeping him.

As it is, Alan Pardew faced a similar situation with Yohan Cabaye whilst at Newcastle United. He ended up selling the Frenchman. Will things be any different for Yannick Bolasie?

What’s your take? What does the future hold for this Crystal Palace winger? Would he be a good fit for Liverpool?

This is not what we need or expect

I’m a Palace season ticket holder and although Bolasie is a good player with some outrageous skill I’d happily see him go if Liverpool offered decent money. Whilst he does grab headlines I personally don’t think he wins games for us. He doesn’t score goals and is not getting enough assists. A case of Football & media over hyping a player. If Liverpool want to believe the hype and give us a ton of cash I’d wish him all the best and hope he does fulfill what Liverpool expect.
