Are Liverpool really ready to go ‘all out’ for this £38.1m sensation?

Karim BenzemaWe’re deep into the January transfer window now and we’ve barely heard a peep from Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers has been keen to talk up the quality of his current options, but fans are still clamouring for a new addition (or two). The Reds’ head coach can’t be blind to his team’s lack of quality upfront.

Without Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool are a completely different team. He provides a focal point and he’s a natural finisher. The likes of Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert just aren’t as good. If Brendan is to bring in further reinforcements, I hope this is the area that he looks at.

This leads me neatly onto The Metro‘s claim that Liverpool are ready to go ‘all out’ in their attempts to sign Karim Benzema. What does this mean in real terms? It looks like The Reds are going to offer Real Madrid as much as £38.1m in an attempt to tempt them into selling their star striker.

If this is true, then it’s a real statement of intent from Brendan Rodgers. He spent a lot in the summer and bringing in an expensive forward like Karim Benzema could put The Reds in a precarious financial situation.

But footballistically speaking (if that word’s good enough for Arsene Wenger, it’s good enough for me), it’s a smart move. The Frenchman has proven that he’s a natural goal-scorer at just about every level. He’s scored 25 goals at international level. In 264 games for Real Madrid, he’s found the back of the net 125 times.

How Liverpool could use a potent force like that upfront.

Still, there’s that £38.1m price-tag to contend with. Are The Reds really ready to put their money where their mouth is? I certainly hope so. This could prove to be a breakthrough moment for Liverpool Football Club.

What’s your take? Could Liverpool really be in the market for Karim Benzema?

I do not know wether we would be able to pull this one off or not ,but Lacazette is the one we should be going after.

Load of rubbish jus like the spiel comin out of rodgers mouth. 200+ million spent on kids n for the future when the future should be now. Were getting left behind and the money wasted on god knows how many players i dont know cos ive lost count couldve been spent on less numbers of players that are better quality and ready to fight for trophies. How much longer do we have to put up with this. 45 years following LFC and ive never seen a lees prepared squad of players to deal with the riguors of top flight football. Live LFC and follow them forever but not a happy bunny. YNWA

Errrr borini has started 1 game n been a sub for all his other appearences in the prem and as for your choice of player you are right but there is no way on this planet or any other they would come to LFC because we arent going to pay them 200 grand a week + each. Nice thought tho

For all of u expecting Rodger to strike this kind of deal, just forget it cos it will never happen. Expect a Danny Ings or a Berahino for 25mil and 35mil respectively. This is one thing I personally hate Rodgers for, his signings are completely ways off the mark. U can’t tell me u are a good coach if u are blind enough to identify quality players to give u a edge over some teams. Mourinho is better than Brendan only bcos he has d foresight to identify quality players that best filled out d voids in his teams( courtois, costa, matic, felipe luiz, and Fabregas) are testimonials to this. If Brendan too can take such giant Stride, only then can he challenge his master Mourinho. Don’t be surprised, this is the one factor that will make a difference in tonight’s capital one cup meeting at the bridge. Pls fellow Liverpudlian, don’t place too much expectation on tonight’s game going into Liverpool’s favour cos they’ve got lot of things that we don’t have….experience, skills, qualities, fluidity, just name it. However, I do hope that God will deliver d head of their Goliaths into the hands of our Davids(Amen) YNWA

Lacazette or luiz adriano are the best option for me……. We will be deadly upfront

  • Terry says:

It’s becoming very frustrating waiting for us to buy a marquee player and when we do we sit on our laurels and expect that one player to be our saviour, build him up to be world class and then sell him, and then back to square one, while other teams keeps on building with a team of world class players as oppose to our one. We’ve been building for years and still only at foundation level, while other teams are on the top floor or just below. FSG KD &BR is wasting the clubs money…how much more.

    • Rob says:

Hey terry your right and i totally agree. Between KD + BR 300 + million and still no better off. Wtf r fsg doin. Get a BIG name manager in and we can attract the big players. My only regret is that if rafa had had tht kind of money im damn sure we would of won the league by now and probably more. YNWA
