Yann M'VilaRemember a few years back when Arsenal couldn’t stop themselves from getting linked to Rennes’ top defensive midfielder, Yann M’Vila? Well as we know, a  move never materialised.

The Frenchman was linked to other English clubs like Queens Park Rangers, but ended up at Rubin Kazan. Unfortunately, he hasn’t proven to be a good fit for the Russian side. As a result, he’s been loaned out to Inter Milan, where he’s currently enjoying some Serie A football. It must have been a mad year for M’Vila.

As it happens, it looks like more change is ahead for the Frenchman. By the looks of things, Inter boss Roberto Mancini has no interest in making his move for Yann M’Vila permanent. In fact, he’s got his eye on another footballer. Check out these comments:

“Lucas is a great player but he is a Liverpool player and it will be hard to get him. It certainly would be useful to us as he could help our youngsters grow.” (Source: The Express)

Those words wont exactly be music to Yann M’Vila’s ears. He must feel a little unloved at the moment.

As it happens, it could leave the door open for Arsenal to reignite their interest in the Frenchman. After all, if he’s not going to wind up at Inter Milan in the long-term, then what does the future hold for him?

Whilst he’s struggled in recent times, there’s no doubting that he has many of the qualities that The Gunners’ midfield currently lacks. For a start, he’s a major physical presence. He’s a battler who will slam into tackles, work hard, hassle opponents and break-up play.

He’s not as efficient going forward, but he’s disciplined and he’ll provide Arsenal’s back-four with some meaningful protection. With that in mind, I’d argue that he’s worth investing in.

One way or another, Arsene Wenger has to do something, let’s just hope that he can work this situation to his advantage.

What’s your take? Is Yann M’Vila still the answer for The Gunners?
