KrychowiakArsenal’s 3-3 draw with Anderlecht has fans all in a tizzy. The Gunners had skipped to a 3-0 lead, but managed to let it slip against a rather average looking Belgian side. Arsenal’s players showed far too much willingness to sit back, but they just don’t have the players necessary to soak up pressure like that. If you don’t have midfielders who are willing to work hard and block crosses, you’re asking for trouble.

When Alexis Sanchez puts in the best defensive performance of the night, it’s time for a re-think.

Arsene Wenger certainly has his work cut out for him in the January window. He’s going to need to rectify a situation that he helped to create.

This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Arsenal have their eyes trained on Sevilla’s star defensive midfielder, Grzegorz Krychowiak. The Poland international has a difficult to spell name, but this hasn’t stopped his reputation from growing and growing. In fact, he’s been one of La Liga’s star players thus far this season.

At 23-years-old he’s got bag-loads of energy, works extremely hard and isn’t afraid to tussle for the ball. He’s a good tackler and he positions himself well, so he’s usually available to disrupt potentially dangerous attacks. On his day he can be a real nightmare for opposition players to deal with. Isn’t that exactly what The Gunners need at this moment in time?

Unfortunately for Arsene Wenger, Krychowiak won’t come cheap. The Polish ace has a £23.5m release clause written into his Sevilla contract and it looks like his club wouldn’t sell him for a penny less. Still, given the pressing nature of Arsenal’s need, I can’t help but feel that The Gunners need to bite the bullet with this one. They need a shiny new defensive midfielder and Grzegorz fits the bill.

Besides, have you seen what Arsenal are charging their season ticket-holders? It’s only right that they funnel this money into the transfer market.

What’s your take? Is Grzegorz Krychowiak the right man for the job at The Emirates?
