Adrien Rabiot[Editor’s Note: Various reports suggest that Roma have now agreed a pre-conract deal with Adrien Rabiot, which makes an Manchester United deal unlikely, but not impossible. Please bare that in mind when reading the following article.]

After a poor start to the season, Manchester United fans are already starting to look to the January transfer window for salvation. It’s not like they didn’t spend enough money in the summer, eh?

Unfortunately, whilst Louis Van Gaal managed to refresh his attack (through players like Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao), he’s left certain areas of his squad a little under-cooked. He’s drastically short of defensive options and I’d argue that he could use a little more attacking flair in the centre of the park.

With Juan Mata still frustrating fans and other players struggling to influence games in a meaningful way, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Van Gaal bring somebody else in to help up the level of competition.

This must surely be why The Express recently ran an article suggesting that The Red Devils are ready to join the battle to sign PSG starlet Adrien Rabiot. Because he’s French and he’s young (he’s just 19-years-old), he’s primarily been linked to Arsenal up until now. Recently, however, clubs like Chelsea, Roma and yes, United, have joined the chase. It’ll certainly be interesting to watch this one play out.

Rabiot’s got a year left on his Paris Saint Germain contract and has shown no signs that he’s going to sign a new deal. This means he’ll be available as part of a free transfer next summer, or as part of a cut price deal this January. Check out PSG manager, Laurent Blanc’s comments on the situation:

“I believe he will leave, but I can’t tell you where. Rabiot has received a good offer from PSG but apparently it doesn’t interest him. It’s a shame.”If Manchester United are interested, it looks like they could be in a position of power here. They shouldn’t have any issue with covering the boy’s wages, even if he’s holding out for a huge deal.

Whether he’d make a huge impact at Old Trafford is up for debate. One thing’s for sure: he’s a huge talent and he could blossom into a world class player. He’s worth the gamble.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United really be interested in Adrien Rabiot?
