Sneijder 2Despite signing a raft-load of talented new players in the summer, Manchester United still haven’t quite managed to find their form. Not yet any way.

Fans were hoping that Louis Van Gaal was the right man to get them back on track. At the moment, however, he seems to be struggling to get through to his players and things are just not going as he had planned.

First thing’s first: his defense is in a state of disrepair at the moment. Van Gaal went into the season without enough quality options in this department and he’s paying the price now.

The Red Devils’ midfield is also struggling. Players like Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini just haven’t been producing the goods in a United shirt (despite Mata’s goal and Fellaini’s recent performance against West Brom. What’s the solution?

According to The Express, Turkish football’s financial situation could help The Red Devils to seal a deal for Galatasaray star, Wesley Sneijder. He’s been a long-term Manchester United and I’d argue that it’s about time that the club made this move happen.

For one reason or another, United just haven’t been able to close this particular deal. Luckily, his current situation could pay into their hands.

At the moment footballers in Turkey pay a 15% flat tax on their earnings. The aforementioned source suggests that this could be raised to 35% in the near future. If this happens, a lot of footballers are likely to jump ship. The Express even claim that this ‘could see Sneijder reconsider his future’. This would provide Manchester United with another opportunity to get their man.

We all know what Sneijder could offer this Manchester United side. He’s got immense technical ability, he can pick out a pass and he can score a goals. He’s already scored 3 times this season. Last year he scored 17 times. Not bad, eh? Yes, he’s short, but he’s tough, difficult to dispossess and he’s pretty pacey.

There’s a reason why Manchester United have been interested in him for so long. Let’s just hope that the club can finally seal this deal.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United continue to chase Wesley Sneijder?
