PSGLavezzi.Despite enjoying a summer of heavy spending, The Reds have struggled during the first part of this season. I guess losing your best player and talisman will end up knocking your stride.

After the summer, most fans felt that it would be Liverpool’s defense that let them down over the following months. Surprisingly, however, it’s their attack that isn’t firing on all cylinders. Players like Mario Balotelli and Adam Lallana have struggled, whilst Daniel Sturridge has spent an extended period out on the sidelines. Raheem Sterling’s complaints of ‘fatigue’ don’t exactly help.

With all this in mind, it’ll be interesting to see how Brendan Rodgers reacts in the transfer market. Will he stick with his current options and hope they come good, or will he twist and look in to bring an extra player or two?

According to The Metro, The Reds are looking to select the latter option. The source suggests that Liverpool are making another ‘push’ to sign Paris Saint Germain’s fleet-footed forward, Ezequiel Lavezzi during the January transfer window.

The Reds have been sniffing around the Argentine ace for quite some time now, could they finally be about to close the deal?

Unfortunately, Brendan Rodgers is likely to face stiff competition in the battle for Lavezzi’s signature. It’s thought that Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Roma are also interested. All of these clubs have good reputations and should provide a certain degree of appeal for the Argentine.

Still, Liverpool could provide Lavezzi with an opportunity to play football in the Premier League and the chance to win silverware. He’ll also get to strut his stuff alongside genuinely exciting footballers like Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge.

It’s not clear how much PSG will want in return for Lavezzi, or whether The Reds have enough money to close the deal. Whatever the case, I certainly hope that Brendan Rodgers continues to chase the Argentine. He could be exactly what they need to get their attack purring once again.

What’s your take? Should The Reds swoop in for Ezequiel Lavezzi?
