Cristiano RonaldoEvery season or so, Cristiano Ronaldo seems to speak out about how much he loves his former club, Manchester United. Whilst waxing lyrical about The Red Devils, he often mentions that he’d one day fancy a move back to Old Trafford.

Stop teasing us Ronny, and come back already!

Here’s what Cristiano Ronaldo had to say this time round:

“I love Manchester. Everyone knows that — I have said it many times.”

Yep. He certainly has.

Cue thousands of Manchester United fans suggesting that they too wish that he can come back one day.

He’s currently in the form of his career. Since moving to The Bernabeu in 2009, he’s scored 255 goals in 250 games for Real Madrid. This is, to put it simply, a flabbergasting return. On this basis alone, he’s already established himself as one of the best sportsmen to have ever put foot to ball. He’s an all-timer. In fact, when it comes to all timers, Ronaldo’s at the head of the queue.

His athleticism, technique and pure finishing ability are virtually unmatched. It’s just unfortunate that he hasn’t been wearing a Manchester United shirt whilst he’s been at the peak of his game.

But as Ronaldo’s comments indicate, there’s hope yet. We could see him throw on a Manchester United jersey again in the future.

Let’s just hope that it’s in the near future. Ronaldo’s now 29-years-old. Over the next three or four years, the Portuguese ace is going to start losing some of his pace. Soon enough, he’ll lose some of his edge. At some stage, he’ll drop out of the ‘best player in the world’ discussion.

If we’re honest, that’s probably when Manchester United will sign him, but I hope it’s not. If Cristiano does return to Old Trafford, I hope it’s whilst he’s at his very best.

Still, I appreciate the need to be realistic. To get him back at all would represent a massive victory for the club. Let’s not forget that good things come to those who wait.

How long are you willing to wait?
