Adrien RabiotArsenal’s season finally seemed to snap into life with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over a sickly Aston Villa side. The Gunners have already come across a number of tests this year, but their last game seemed to be a piece of cake.

One minor scare from a set-piece aside, Arsenal had just about everything their own way. Better still, Mesut Ozil showed traces of his best form. There was plenty of reasons for the fans to start feeling a bit more hopeful.

Still, let’s not fool ourselves into believing that all of Arsenal’s issues have disappeared. They’re still lacking defensive personnel and their midfielders aren’t all firing (Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta in particular seem to have lost their range). With this in mind, it looks like Arsene Wenger will still need to bring in a couple of new recruits in the January transfer window.

Let’s just hope that he’s not feeling like his usual stubborn self.

This brings me to a recent article from The Metro which claimed that The Gunners are still interested in Paris Saint Germain’s talented young midfielder, Adrien Rabiot. The source suggests that Arsene Wenger will make another attempt to sign the Frenchman when the January transfer window opens up.

Rabiot isn’t the defensive midfielder that most Arsenal fans are hoping for, but he’s an exciting player in his own right. He’s only 19-years-old, but he’s already demonstrated his immaculate technique on numerous occasions. He’s got an eye for a pass and he’s got great vision. He reminds me a little bit of Philippe Coutinho, in some ways.

His contractual situation certainly plays into Arsenal’s hands. By the time next summer rolls by, Rabiot’s PSG deal will expire and he’ll be available as a free transfer. If Arsenal move in for him in January instead, there’s a good chance that they’ll pick him up as part of a cut price deal.

It’s not clear where he’ll fit into this Arsenal team, but there’s no doubting his talent. It’ll be interesting to watch this one play out.

What’s your take? Should The Gunners re-ignite their interest in Adrien Rabiot?
