BenatiaSince signing Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera earlier this summer, The Red Devils have slowed their transfer activity down to a crawl. After last season’s antics, this will no doubt be a source of great frustration for Manchester United fans.

They may be smack-bang in the middle of an excellent pre-season campaign, but would it kill Louis Van Gaal to make another addition or two to his squad?

Well, if The Metro are to be believed, Van Gaal is ready to explode into action over the coming days. The source claims that The Red Devils are ‘working on a stunning £125m triple swoop. The players within United’s crosshairs are Juventus midfielder, Arturo Vidal, Real Madrid wing-wizard, Angel Di Maria and Roma’s superstar centre-back, Medhi Benatia.

If this news is true, it’s evidence of United’s ambition. The club hierarchy can’t be happy with last season’s performances. This is evidence that they’re trying to right those wrongs and put the club back on the pathway to glory.

We’ve already heard a lot about Arturo Vidal. The Chilean international is an athletic presence in the centre of the park, who’ll add both goals and a competitive edge.

Angel Di Maria, on the other hand, is best known for providing service into other team-mates. He’s known as The Assist King in La Liga. If he can get Wayne Rooney firing on all cylinders again, then he’ll prove worthy of his price-tag.

Then there’s Mehdi Benatia, a Moroccan centre-back, who also happens to be a dab-hand in the opposition penalty box. He’s tall, he’s great in the air and he knows where to position himself in order to clear the danger or wreak havoc in the opposition’s penalty box.

He’s an extremely smart cookie and I’m sure that he’d help to lessen the blow of losing both Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in the same summer.

£125m is a huge amount of money, but we are talking about three excellent options here. If these players make Manchester United competitive again, then Louis Van Gaal will have made a huge step forward in the right direction.

Fingers crossed that this all comes together.

What’s your take? Would this triple swoop help to make Manchester United competitive once again?
