Wilfried BonyLiverpool have been in a mad-dash throughout the summer transfer window, but they’re yet to bring in somebody who can replace Luis Suarez’s goal-scoring instincts.

The hope may be that Daniel Sturridge will step up to the plate (he’s been in excellent form for the last 18 months after all. Still, surely The Reds would be better off bringing in another top quality option and hedging their bets?

This was probably the thinking behind The Reds interest in QPR star Loic Remy. Unfortunately that deal fell through when Remy failed his medical and Brendan Rodgers still needs to go back out in the transfer window to find further options.

Bare in mind: we’re not talking about a direct replacement for Luis Suarez. I’m not sure there’s anybody quite like the Uruguayan in world football. The Reds just need somebody who will give them a little additional firepower.

This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that The Reds are still interested in Swansea City’s fearsome striker, Wilfried Bony. In the Ivorian Coast international’s first season on English soil, he scored an astounding 25 goals. It’s little wonder that Brendan Rodgers is interested.

There’s more good news for Liverpool too. The aforementioned source suggests that The Swans are willing to sell Bony for less than the £19m release clause written into his contract. In other words, The Reds may not have to pay over the odds for the player they want.

With less than a month remaining in this current iteration of the transfer market, I’m sure that the player would jump at the opportunity to play for a Champions League side. The Reds just need to make their interest clear and see if the player’s ready to jump ship.

Then they need to negotiate with The Swans. It’ll be interesting to see how far below Bony’s £19m release clause his club are willing to go. Whatever the case, Brendan Rodgers looks well equipped to hit the negotiation table and come away with a good deal.

What’s your take? Where does Wilfried Bony’s future lie? Would he improve Liverpool’s forward line?
