di mariaManchester United have already signed both Luke Shaw (from Southampton) and Ander Herrera (from Atletico Madrid) this summer, but I think it’s fair to say that fans are still waiting to see their club bring in a signing that gets them seriously excited.

Both players were expensive, but I don’t think either of them are good enough to build a Premier League title tilt around.

Let’s just hope that Louis Van Gaal is building towards something bigger. I can’t help but feel that Manchester United need to make a marquee signing if they’re to improve on last season’s meager offerings.

It’s not like they haven’t been linked to some exciting options. Take their rumoured interest in Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria. Isn’t he the kind of player who you could see making a major impact at Old Trafford? Could he be the man to steer Manchester United back onto the pathway to glory?

Hyperbole aside, he’d add some major quality to an area of Manchester United’s squad that’s really lacking in inspiration. With Nani, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia all failing to provide the goods, The Red Devils could really use another fleet-footed forward.

Luckily, it looks like Manchester United have stolen a march in the battle to sign Angel Di Maria. The Mirror claims that Paris Saint Germain, United’s main competition for Di Maria, have pulled out of the race to sign the Argentine ace.

The source quotes PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who suggests that Di Maria is ‘too expensive’ for his club. Given that the Ligue 1 club has already spent big on David Luiz this summer, it’s easy to see why they may view the £48m rated Di Maria as an expense too far.

Manchester United, on the other hand, should still be in a position to compete. If they’re willing to how some ambition, this deal could be all theirs. Manchester United could wind up with the marquee signing they so desperately need.

What’s your take? Are Manchester United now in a position to wrap up a deal for Angel Di Maria?

Everything looks like a drama play for ed woodward and the financial team of Man Utd. first Sir Alex leaves the rein with team getting weaker. appointment of David Moyes with flop transfer. new van gaal appointment with zero signing yet. Looking for players like reus, strootman, vidal all injured. Carvahlo, guadrado, demphy, guarin, dimaria marcos rojo and so many. How is it possible that the big four has already got most of their news players in and why not for man utd. if they really have so much money to spend then why so long. i believe all these are only to play with the fans .i do not think they really want to spend. its all bullshit.
