Why Manchester United should sign this £14.4m Serie A superstar:

With Louis Van Gaal now in charge at Manchester United, fans are waiting to see how he attempts to mould his new club during the summer transfer window. I’m sure that he’ll be given a huge transfer kitty (to try and rectify the wrongs of last season) and it’ll be interesting to see how he spends it.

Despite Manchester United’s pursuit of Ander Herrera, The Red Devils continue to get linked to a number of quality midfielders. One of those midfielders is Inter Milan’s classy Colombian, Fredy Guarin. That’s right, the same Fredy Guarin who has been linked to Chelsea extensively over the last 12 or so months.

The Mirror claims that Guarin could be available for 18m euros (or £14.4m). They also suggest that the player himself would prefer to move to Juventus, but that The Red Devils are currently leading ‘the chase’ as they’re the only club that’s willing to cough up enough money.

In other words, this looks like Manchester United’s deal to lose. What’s more, the player seems to be pretty fairly priced, given his rise to prominence over the last couple of seasons.

Last season, Fredy Guarin made 35 appearances for Inter Milan, scored 4 goals and chipped in with 13 assists. He’s clearly very effective in the final third. These statistics also demonstrate that he’s an extremely unselfish footballer. He gets into a lot of dangerous positions and is always looking to set his team-mates up.

I’m sure that Manchester United fans would like to see their club hold out for a player with a better goal-scoring record, but there’s no doubt that Guarin is a good option. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 27-year-old were able to make an instant impact in the Premier League.

That’s why I wouldn’t be disappointed to see Louis Van Gaal wrap this particular deal up. Manchester United need to get off to a flying start and he could be just the man for the job.
