Will Liverpool break their £100m spending barrier by signing this German ace?

RodgersThe Reds have been extremely busy already this summer, but if the papers are to be believed, there’s more work to be done yet.

They’ve sold their best player (Luis Suarez) and Brendan Rodgers will now need to work over-time to make amends. Luckily, he has plenty of money to work with.

According to The Mirror, The Reds are set to ‘smash through’ the £100m spending barrier for the first time in the prestigious history. Liverpool announced themselves as potential title-winners last year. During the summer transfer window, they now look set to announce themselves as a financial powerhouse.

They’ve already spent £60m this summer. With some of the players they continue to get linked to, it doesn’t look like it’ll take them too long to hit that £100m mark.

Interestingly enough, that Mirror article also lists The Reds next batch of transfer targets. The players rumoured to be on Liverpool’s hit list are: Juventus’s midfielders Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal and Borussia Dortmund’s wing-wizard, Marco Reus.

There’s no way The Reds can snap up all three players (even with the money they’ve earned from selling Luis Suarez). Liverpool may have to pick just one.

I’d immediately strike Paul Pogba off the list. Whilst he’s clearly a talented young player, his price-tag is extortionately large. It’s also worth noting that The Reds can already call upon Philippe Coutinho (who looked excellent against Brondy) and Jordan Henderson.

Arturo Vidal may be considered a long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard, but I’m not sure he shares Stevie G’s goal-scoring nous. Marco Reus on the other hand…

Since moving to Dortmund from Monchengladbach, Reus has found the back of the net 42 times in 90 games. That’s an astounding return for somebody who plays out on the flanks. He’s also got bags of pace, great technique and a direct attacking nature.

At 25-years-old, he’s about to enter the best years of his career. If there’s a chance that he’s available, The Reds should spring for him. Let’s just hope that Brendan Rodgers can afford to compete – Reus won’t come cheap.

What’s your take? Who will Liverpool’s next signing be?

Lfc tends to buy players of average quality.we sold best player in the world .look what BR has bought>Aspas,Alberto,Borini. All flops.I dont think any high quality player will play 4 LFC.They rather play 4 Real Barca Juventus. BR will be gone by March or come May. Mark my words.
