Could this £32m sensation complete Arsenal’s attacking line-up?

Alexis Sanchez (2)Now that Chile have crashed out of the World Cup (despite putting in a valiant effort against the hosts), I’d say it’s time for Barcelona to sort out the future of one of their star players, Alexis Sanchez.

Barcelona seem to be in a transitional period at the moment, with Luis Enrique looking to separate the wheat from the chaff. He’s already cut ties with Cesc Fabregas. Sanchez, Barca’s talented Chilean winger/striker, could be next.

If Barcelona are really willing to consider selling Sanchez, he’ll certainly have a large number of suitors. We’ve seen a lot of Premier League clubs pick up links to the 25-year-old. But no one club seems to get mentioned in conjunction with Sanchez more than Arsenal. The Mirror even claim that The Gunners are ‘set to make a £32m bid’ this summer.

Arsene Wenger let ex-Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas move to Chelsea this summer, so here’s hoping that he doesn’t let Alexis Sanchez slip through his grasp.

The Chilean ace is the real deal. I’m sure you saw his opportunistic goal (nice finish though) against Brazil during the last round of World Cup games. But he’s more than capable of providing his own moments of magic and wreaking havoc in the final third.

Last season he made 54 appearances for Barcelona, finding the back of the net 21 times and chipping in with 17 assists. In other words, he’s a seriously effective footballer and he’s clearly worthy of his £32m price-tag.

Better still, he’s only 25-years-old. He’s about to enter his peak years as a footballer. Wouldn’t it be something if he were to do so in an Arsenal shirt?

If The Gunners had Alexis Sanchez on one side, Theo Walcott on the other and a world-class striker down the centre, they’d have a seriously potent attacking threat next season. If Arsene Wenger is willing to splash the cash, I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal picked up more silverware next season.

What’s your take? Should The Gunners make a bid for this talented but expensive Barcelona ace? Is Alexis Sanchez the right man for Arsenal?
