Are Liverpool FINALLY about to wrap up this £18m deal?

Liverpool have already been quick to act in the transfer market, but now that Luis Suarez has packed his bags and slung his hook, there could be more players on their way to Anfield this summer.

Fans will certainly hope that this is the case. Whilst Brendan Rodgers has already brought in some good options, he’s got a lot more work to do if he wants to keep his team competitive.

Luis Suarez’s absence is going to be felt in a major way next season. His attacking endeavours often balanced-out Liverpool’s lacklustre defending. That won’t be the case next year, so it’s up to Brendan to find the balance.

Fixing his leaky defense could make for a good start. Last season The Reds conceded 50 Premier League goals. For a side that finished towards the top of the table, this is pretty inexcusable.

That’s why I’m so excited to see The Reds continue to get linked to Sevilla’s young superstar left-back, Alberto Moreno. Here’s a player who can help Liverpool to shore things up at the back, whilst providing plenty of flair moving forward.

According to The Mirror, The Reds have sent Ian Ayre to wrap up an £18m deal for the Spanish full-back. Liverpool have been interested in Moreno for most of the summer, but now that they know they’ve got cash coming in in return for Luis Suarez, they’re in position to try and close the deal.

As the source notes, Sevilla have their fair share of financial trouble and Moreno is somewhat keen on a move. As such, The Reds should be in a pretty strong position here – especially if they’re willing to cough up as much as £18m in return for the player.

Moreno’s just 22-years-old, but he’s already starting to meet his potential. He’s nippy, technically gifted and smart. He knows when to make runs, when to stay back and when to dive into a challenge. He’s clearly got a big future ahead of him and it’s easy to see why Brendan Rodgers is interested.

Let’s just hope The Reds are finally able to wrap this deal up. It’s about time!
