With the World Cup well and truly over, Louis Van Gaal is now in a position to try and properly bolster his Manchester United side.
A couple of big-name young players have already been brought in, but The Red Devils may also need some experienced individuals to try and steady the ship.
Van Gaal is no fool. He knows the extent of the challenge that lies ahead of him at Old Trafford. Failure to bring in the right players this summer could come to define his time as boss at Manchester United.
This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Manchester United are hot on the trail of Real Madrid’s superstar wing-man, Angel Di Maria. The 26-year-old has bag-loads of experience and is one of world football’s most experienced players.
As such, it’s great to see that Manchester United are on the hunt. Given that he’s accrued 87 assists (and 36 goals) over 189 games at Real Madrid, it’s clear that he’d represent a marked improvement over the likes of Nani, Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young.
The Mirror also claim that the Argentine ace is keen on a move to the Premier League. Paris Saint Germain were thought to be interested, but their advances were rebuffed. It looks like this is Manchester United’s deal to lose.
As Manchester United look to strengthen for next season, they need to make sure that they’re bringing in world-class talent. Real Madrid’s ‘Assist King’ certainly qualifies.
Unfortunately for The Red Devils, Angel Di Maria isn’t going to come cheap. Earlier last week, The Independent ran an article suggesting that he could cost as much as £47.7m. That’s a lot of money, but given how effective he has proven to be in the final third, he could well prove to be an astute investment.
At 26-years-old, Di Maria is about to enter the best years of his footballing career. The time’s right for Louis Van Gaal to swoop in and swipe him up. Let’s just hope that the Dutchman feels the same way.

No way! He’s vastly overrated and vastly overpriced. His stats for last season are actually very average when you consider the opposition, (or lack of).
He’s very good at running around a lot and falling over which actually doesn’t make him much of an upgrade on Valencia and only a slight one on Nani, anybody would be a big upgrade on Young.
Leave well alone and concentrate on players who will improve the team. He won’t!

Sometimes I wonder what people watch when they make comments on certain players. Di Maria has proven an integral embodiment in RM. He never flopped when called upon in big matches. Ask Barca and Ath Mad. So in a notch shell, he is the type of player we need to buss our wings to provide the needed width that we help us bang in loads of goals.
