Bruno Martins Indi (Netherlands):With Manchester United on the hunt for new additions in every area of their squad, I’m sure that fans are waiting with baited breath to see who moves to Old Trafford first. Will Louis Van Gaal look to fix his defense, will he add a little more steel to his midfield or will he sort out his ailing attack?

It strikes me that Manchester United’s main priority this summer needs to be their defense. With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both moving on and Patrice Evra getting on in years, there’s clearly a lot of work to be done here.

One of the most intriguing defensive options that Manchester United have been linked to this summer is Dutch full-back, Bruno Martins Indi. The 22-year-old is extremely well-regarded and those who have seen him playing at international level will agree that he looks like the real deal.

I can’t help but feel that he’s the right man for Manchester United. He’s strong, he’s confident on the ball and he’s smart. He covers a lot of ground, slams into tackles, makes loads of interceptions and loves to get forward and support attacks. What impresses me most about Martins Indi, however, is his distribution from the back.

He passes the ball so quickly and with such accuracy, that he makes his team into a considerably better attacking unit. He’s a major part of the reason why the Dutch international side has been so effective during the World Cup.

Unfortunately for Manchester United, wrapping up a deal for Martins Indi may not be easy. The Mirror claim that FC Porto are interested in the Feyenoord defender and that they’re willing to pay £6.5m for him.

Whilst Louis Van Gaal won’t be happy to have competition for Martins Indi, Manchester United certainly have enough money to compete here. I’d argue that £6.5m is way below the player’s current market value. If The Red Devils come in with a fairer offer, perhaps they’ll be able to wrap this one up?

What’s your take? Should Louis Van Gaal snap up this member of his Dutch international side?
