Cristian Tello (Barcelona)Last summer Brendan Rodgers attempted to add some threat down the flanks by signing Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea. Unfortunately, this move would prove to be a distinct failure.

Whilst Rodgers tends to utilise the transfer market well and make smart decisions, Moses just didn’t look cut out to play in Liverpool’s slick, quick and effective front-line. It’s not like he was let down by the players around him – he just looked a little over-awed.

He’s young enough that he may still find his feet at the top level, but this process certainly won’t happen at Liverpool. With this in mind, Rodgers and co. need to start looking at other options.

Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling are three of the Premier League’s best attacking players. If Rodgers can add a fourth option to this forward line, The Reds would be damn near unstoppable (though I’m sure their defense will continue to disappoint).

This makes me wonder: will Rodgers turn his attention back to long-term Liverpool target, Cristian Tello? With The Mirror claiming that Everton are also interested in the Barcelona ace, The Reds may need to make a quick decision here. If they rest on their laurels, they could well miss out on a great option.

Last season Tello made 30 appearances for Barcelona, accruing 852 minutes on the pitch. If you do the maths, that’s an average of about 28 minutes per game. He’s clearly a bit part player at the Nou Camp and I’m sure he’d jump at the opportunity to join a top club who would be able to provide him with regular game time next season.

In this regard, I’m sure he’d favour a move to Anfield, rather than Goodison Park. Whether Barcelona are willing to sell is another matter, but I’d love to see The Reds test the waters here. Despite his limited game time last year, Tello managed to chip in with 5 goals and 5 assists last year. That’s a lot better than Victor Moses managed.

It’s also worth remembering that he’s just 22-years-old. He’s still got a lot of developing to do. Let’s hope that he does this developing with Liverpool.

What’s your take? Should Liverpool battle it out with Everton to sign Cristian Tello?

I like Tello, looking at the price we could get him for and the flexibility of positions he can play in the front 4 he looks better value than some of the other options we have looked at.

The main concern I can see is if he would fit in to the Premier League, although would be great for the cups and Champions League.
