What does the future hold for Adam Lallana?

Right Wing - Adam Lallana I’m sure that Southampton fans were disappointed to see Mauricio Pochettino leave the club. He’s gone to sip from Tottenham’s perpetually poisoned chalice and The Saints will suffer as a result. He was an integral part of the club’s success last season.

But I think it’s fair to say that things could be about to get worse for Southampton fans. According to The Guardian, Mauricio Pochettino is now looking to ‘reunite’ with his former captain, Adam Lallana, at White Hart Lane. Losing Lallana could prove to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back at St Mary’s Stadium.

In truth, however, it’s looked like Adam Lallana could move on for quite some time. He recently became the subject of a £20m Liverpool bid and at one stage it looked like that deal would go through. Tottenham’s interest throws a spanner in the works, but it doesn’t really help the Southampton cause.

Still, I think it’s fair to say that Spurs could use a little more energy in their midfield. Andre Villas-Boas went out and bought all and sundry last summer, but the options he brought in are a little sluggish and lacked in inspiration.

Lallana is the antithesis of this. He’s an excellent technical footballer who always seems to have time and space on the ball. He’s capable of taking defenders on, skipping over tackles, delivering killer balls or creating havoc in and around the penalty area. He’s also managed to chip in with 10 goals this season, which is an impressive return for a midfielder.

If Spurs can afford him and Southampton are prepared to sell, they’ll be getting quite a catch.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see whether continuing to play under Pochettino has any appeal to Lallana. He’s been a one-club man throughout his career and I’m not sure that’ll change this summer.

But that won’t stop Spurs fans from keeping their fingers crossed. They’ll just have to hope that Daniel Levy is prepared to pull out all the stops once again.

What’s your take? Where does Adam Lallana’s future lie? Will Southampton really be able to keep hold of him?

Think he’s asked to leave Southampton so not sure where he will go ? maybe united might step in as they rebuild there team not sure Tottenham compete with the other teams around them on the wages front which they might have to do, if they really want these type of players or lose out to the top four or five clubs and still have to wait to have a team competitive enough to break into that top four ! Just will have to see how much mr levy really wants a top four finish ?

Would be great to see Lallana at the Lane. However it’s unfair to talk about another club’s player. We’ve been raided by the likes of Man Utd and Real Madrid and despise these teams for assuming they can poach who they want – so we should be careful not to do the same. Would still love him to sign though….
