Is this £12m Dutch ace the PERFECT fit for Manchester United?

With Louis Van Gaal now in charge at Manchester United, the papers have (rather predictably) started to link the club to a number of Dutch players. One or two of the linked players even look like they could be a good fit for The Red Devils.

Take, for instance, versatile Dutch defender Daley Blind. The 24-year-old ace could be exactly what Manchester United need at this moment in time.

For a start, he’s extremely versatile. He plays as a wing-back/left-back for the Dutch international side, where he’s put in a number of very impressive performances.

I’m sure you’ll have seen the ball he delivered for Robin Van Persie’s flying header against Spain. From that act alone you can tell that he’s a class-act. That was the kind of individual moment of brilliance that will have had other clubs sitting up to take notice.

When not on International duty he plays as a defensive midfielder for Ajax. As it happens, he’s also pretty good at this. Last season he was voted Dutch player of the season. His flexibility demonstrates that he’s a naturally gifted footballer who’s able to adapt and evolve in different situations. I’d argue that he’s got the mentality and ability to improve this Manchester United side.

Interestingly enough, The Red Devils need to sign both a left-back and a defensive midfielder. With Patrice Evra getting on in years and United lacking a midfield enforcer type, Daley Blind could prove to be the perfect fit.

What’s more, The Mirror suggest that Blind could be available for as little as £12m. That’s a relative bargain given the player’s current status in the game. Let’s not forget that he’s 24-years-old. He’s about to enter the best years of his footballing career. Wouldn’t it be something if he were to enjoy these years whilst wearing a Manchester United shirt?

With The Red Devils currently in recovery mode, a move for a player like Daley Blind could prove to be just the ticket.
