Wesley Sneijder (Holland)As of now The Dutch team have probably been the stand-out side in this year’s World Cup. They’ve put in some top performances and were able to tear apart a tired looking Spain. Making players like Andres Iniesta and Xavi look so average isn’t easy, but Holland were up to the task.

And given that we’re smack-bang in the middle of a transfer window, it wouldn’t be surprising if some of the Dutch players were to start picking up links to some major clubs. Could Manchester United look to the Netherlands to try and fix their midfield?

Yes, Manchester United have spent some big money on players like Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini in recent years, but there’s clearly still some work to be done. With Louis Van Gaal on his way to Old Trafford at the end of the World Cup, the hope will be that he brings some of his Dutch players with him.

Perhaps The Red Devils will finally be able to get their hands on long-term target, Wesley Sneijder. The 30-year-old recently spoke about Van Gaal and his future, noting:

“In the Netherlands, Van Gaal is something like the head teacher of a school. Not everyone is lucky enough to get into his good books.  He trains his players very hard and always expects the highest standards.”

“I am happy at Galatasaray, I have established myself at the club and have settled in. However, if Van Gaal were to make me an offer, I would have to at least consider it. Nobody from the Netherlands can simply reject Van Gaal.” (Source: The Metro)

Galatasaray won’t be happy to hear Sneijder speaking like this, but Manchester United fans won’t mind. The Dutchman is still one of the best in the business. Last year Sneijder made 42 appearances for Gala scoring 17 goals and making 9 assists. He’s got remarkable technical ability, can pick out a pass and he’s now pretty confident in front of goal.

Is it any wonder that Manchester United are interested? Let’s just hope that Louis Van Gaal is willing to make this deal happen.

What’s your take? Should The Red Devils finally wrap up a deal for Wesley Sneijder?
