Wilfried BonyArsenal’s season now seems to be winding down, but at least they’re going out on the same high that they started on. It’s just a shame that the middle part of their season was so disappointing. In the end, The Gunners lack of squad options ended their title chances.

This is something that I’m sure Arsene Wenger will look to rectify in the summer transfer market. The Professor will be well aware of how close Arsenal have come this season, so I’m sure he’s desperate to right these wrongs and put The Gunners back on the right path.

In particular, he’ll need to bring in a couple of classy strikers. Sure, Olivier Giroud added another goal to this season’s tally against West Brom last weekend, but there’s not doubting that he’s looked fatigued for the majority of this year. The workload he’s been given is too much to bear and this area of the squad could probably use a bit more competition.

This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Arsenal are after one of Swansea City’s strikers. Now you may immediately assume that The Gunners are after Michu, the striker they were linked too quite strongly last summer. But after the Spaniard’s injury problems this season and the fact that he’s only scored 6 goals in 19 appearances, perhaps it’s for the best that Arsenal are now in the running to sign Wilfried Bony instead.

Since moving to the Premier League from Vitesse, Bony has played 47 times for The Swans and scored 25 times. That’s a fantastic return for a player who’s still adjusting to his new surroundings. But the truth is, Bony is more or less a natural goalscorer.  Whilst in the Eredivisie he scored 53 goals in 73 games. He is quite a catch and it’s a wonder that a bigger club hasn’t gone in for him yet.

Of course, this may change in the summer. The Mirror suggest that he could cost Arsenal as much as £20m, which is £8m more than Swansea City spent on him last summer. Still, this represents good value for a player who is now proven in the Premier League.

Bony would add a bit of pace to Arsenal’s forward line and could be just what they need to clamber back up the table next season. Make it happen Arsene Wenger!

What’s your take? Is Wilfried Bony a good option for Arsenal?
