Serge AurierIf there’s one person in the world (who isn’t a Manchester City or Manchester United fan) that wants Bacary Sagna to leave Arsenal, it’s Toulouse full-back, Serge Aurier. The French right-back seems desperate to earn a move to The Emirates. Check out these quotes from the player himself:

‘You can’t really say no to Arsenal. It’s a club with history, with a French manager who has welcomed many Francophones. Plus, Arsenal are always thereabouts when it comes to trophies and play in the Champions League.’ (Source: The Mirror)

The source also notes that Serge Aurier has posted pictures of himself wearing an Arsenal shirt to social media accounts over the last year. I have to say, that’s fairly disrespectful to his current club Toulouse, but it does provide evidence of his desire to earn a move to The Emirates.

I’d also note that there’s no smoke without fire. If Aurier feels confident enough to talk up a move to Arsenal and play fast and loose with his current club, perhaps there is some verisimilitude to all the rumours regarding Arsene Wenger’s interest.

He’s now made 70 appearances for Toulouse and he’s still just 21-years-old. He’s also chipped in with 8 goals, which is an impressive return for a full-back. The fact that he already has 7 caps for the Ivory Coast is also promising. He’s young and relatively experienced, but it’s clear that he’s got a big future ahead of him.

This is all the more likely to be true if he earns a move to The Gunners. Arsene Wenger knows how to get the most out of his young charges and I’m sure he’d help Aurier to develop into a world-class footballer. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s why the player is so interested in earning a move to The Emirates.

The aforementioned source claims that Serge Aurier could be available for as little as £7m. As replacements for Bacary Sagna go, Aurier may well be the cheapest, but he wouldn’t be the worst. If Wenger does snap him up, I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed.

What’s your take? Where does Serge Aurier’s future lie?
