Michael FreyWhether or not Liverpool win the Premier League this season, the club deserves a round of applause for its efforts. They’re duking it out with teams with far greater financial resources (the Manchester Citys and Chelseas of this world) and they’re still making a good run at it.

With Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard all hitting form at the right stage of the season (to be fair, Suarez has been in superb form all year long), Liverpool have a great chance of winning the Premier League title. Whether they’ll be able to come back just as strong next season is up for debate.

After all, most of the clubs in the Premier League are going to strengthen over the summer. You can expect the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City to spend a lot of money in an attempt to help them overcome the weaknesses that they’ve all shown throughout the season. Will Liverpool be able to keep up?

With Brendan Rodgers in charge, anything’s possible. Liverpool’s continued success will be all the more likely if their manager continues to make smart decisions in the transfer market.

As it happens, The Reds have been picking up links to new transfer targets left, right and centre. It looks like everybody is champing at the bit for a move to Anfield.

According to The Mirror, The Reds are interested in 19-year-old Swiss prodigy, Michael Frey. The lanky 19-year-old striker currently plays for Young Boys, where he’s building quite a name for himself.

Since breaking into the first team back in 2012, Frey has made 38 appearances and scored 7 goals. That’s not a remarkable return by any means, but he is a young footballer and he has shown plenty of promise.

He’s 6 foot 2 inches tall, but he’s not a gangly, ungraceful footballer. He’s got excellent technical ability, links up with the midfield well and a great attitude. You get the feeling that he could have a massive future ahead of him.

The Mirror have slapped a £5m price-tag over his head, which seems like a fair price to pay for a young player with so much potential. As a third choice striker for The Reds, he may well be the perfect fit.

What’s your take? Is Michael Frey a good option for Liverpool?
