Alvaro MorataLast year, Arsenal started slow and finished strong. This year, the Gunners started with a bang, climbing to the top of the Premier League and clinging on for quite some time, before eventually coming unstuck. They’ve gradually got worse as the season has crept on, fatigue has kicked in and belief has evaporated.

The last two seasons have been dissimilar in structure, but they’ve certainly shared some similarities: the Gunners have been unable to beat the big teams and they’ve lacked a decent presence upfront. In fact, it’s easy to see how these two qualities are linked.

Olivier Giroud works hard, but I’m not sure he’s the striker that Arsenal need at this moment in time. The Gunners have a bunch of number 10, creative types in their midfield. As such, they need their strikers(s) to make telling runs, get in behind and utilise their pace. Unfortunately, Giroud just isn’t that kind of player. I’m not sure he’s a good fit for this Arsenal team with the way that it’s currently set-up.

This brings me to The Mirror‘s claim that Arsenal are still interested in Real Madrid’s Spanish starlet, Alvaro Morata. The youngster strikes me as a footballer who would be a natural fit for Arsenal’s system. He has the technical ability, pace and direct attacking threat to play off The Gunners midfield and create havoc in the Premier League. No wonder Arsene Wenger is still hovering around the Bernabeu waiting to make his move.

The aforementioned source also suggests that the player may be available for as little as £8m. That’s a relatively low fee for a player with such a good reputation at a young age (he’s just 21-years-old). Unfortunately, there’s a catch. Madrid are keen to insert a buy-back clause into Morata’s Arsenal contract that will allow them to buy the Spaniard back at a fixed price in two years time.

If this is true, it may be worth Arsenal spending a bit more money on the youngster and trying to avoid the need for a buy-back clause. After all, if he’s as good as promised, the Gunners won’t want to lose him in two years time. They’ll want to keep him at the Emirates for as long as possible.

What’s your take? Is Alvaro Morata the answer for the Gunners? Should they allow Real Madrid to write a buy-back clause into his contract?

It is the best player compared to the lazy one called Giroud, a striker who can finish 90 minutes without shooting even once on a goal. I do not Know why Wenger is giving him a frequently change rather than others while he know that is a useless player. I wish if this would be a final season for him in the Gunners team and Costa fill his room.
