Hertha BSC v 1. FC Nuernberg - BundesligaAfter spending much of the season on top of the Premier League table, Arsenal have managed to let their grip loosen and they’re now more or less out of the running for the title. The likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and even Liverpool have worked up a head of steam and it’s likely that one of them will walk away victorious.

Arsenal fans will feel that this is a season that has promised so much, but delivered very little. Yes, The Gunners may still win The FA Cup, but this would pale in comparison to Premier League glory.

The Gunners have plenty of talented players among their ranks, but they lack it where it really counts: upfront. Whilst Manchester City can call upon both Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo and Liverpool can count on Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, Arsenal have one decent striking option: the great big French lump, Olivier Giroud.

Not to be too disparaging to the Frenchman, who has been a fairly regular goal-scoring presence this season, but I’m not sure he’s what Arsenal need at this moment in time. He’s just too slow and doesn’t play off The Gunners gifted midfielders well enough.

A decent striker playing on his own upfront for Arsenal should be looking to score almost 30 goals in a single season. Robin Van Persie was capable of it, but Olivier Giroud isn’t.

Earlier last week, The Gunners were linked to Nuremberg striker, Josip Drmic. The Swiss forward has been influential for the Bundesliga side this season, scoring 16 goals 27 games. Considering that he’s just 21-years-old, this makes him quite an attractive prospect.

In fact, he’s only behind Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic in the Bundesliga goal-scoring chart.

The player has also made it clear that he’s interested in a move to Arsenal. Check out these quotes:

“What will happen in the future, I don’t know. Any boy dreams about playing for Arsenal.” (Source: The Mirror)

Now Arsenal just need to make this man’s dream come true. There’s no word as to how much he might cost and the player himself has denied that there’s a deal already in place, but there’s still every reason for Arsene Wenger to keep him on his watch list.

Arsenal need another pacey, talented goal-scoring striker and Drmic fits the billing to a tee. Sign him up Arsene!

What’s your take? Is Josip Drmic the man for Arsenal?
