Toni Kroos 2The eyes of Manchester United fans must have lit up when they heard Bayern Munich midfielder, Toni Kroos’s recent comments. The 24-year-old was a target for The Red Devils during the January transfer window, but no deal ever came to fruition. This has led to bucket-loads of speculation over whether David Moyes will maintain his interest in the player.

Kroos’ most recent comments are likely to intensify the levels of speculation. Check them out: “No decision has been made. It is no secret that the Premier League is a possibility for me. We’ve won the last 15 or 16 games. Every player wants to win. We’re not careless or arrogant. We’re dominant.” (Source: The Mirror)

Whilst it must be fun playing for Bayern Munich, a team who never seems to lose, it must also get a little boring too. The Bundesliga can’t be much of a challenge for players like Toni Kroos and it’s easy for players to get lost in the mix when there’s so many talented footballers vying for positions in the first team.

If a new challenge presented itself, maybe he’d go for it. He doesn’t exactly play down the chances of a move, does he? If Manchester United are able to offer him a compelling wage packet, they may just be able to get their man.

Of course, it would help if they could offer him Champions League football. Whilst United still have pedigree, a lack of European action is likely to be a major turn-off for ambitious young players like Kroos.

Still, this shouldn’t put David Moyes off. If he wants to improve next season and to turn this club’s fortunes around, he’ll need to make marquee signings like this. He’ll need to bring in ready-made, world class players who can make an instant impact at Old Trafford.

This will probably mean spending a lot of money, but at this stage, it’s beginning to look like a necessity. Moyes needs to put his money where his mouth is and sign a player like Toni Kroos – a player who can slot in alongside Juan Mata and add real energy and creativity to an ailing midfield. Let’s just hope he doesn’t choke when the summer rolls around.

What’s your take? Is Toni Kroos still the right man for Manchester United?
