Jeremy MenezIn recent weeks Arsenal have looked like a team lacking in inspiration. Whilst there’s still the FA Cup to play for, I’m sure fans will be looking ahead to the summer with glee. It will provide a chance for Arsene Wenger to fix some of the issues within his squad and add some more quality to certain area’s of the team.

This begs the question: exactly who will he be looking at this summer? According to The Metro, long-term Arsenal target and PSG star, Jeremy Menez, is currently considering his options. Could this provide an opportunity to the Gunners to swoop in?

Of course Arsenal are interested: Menez is French and he has 24 caps for the International side. I’m sure Arsene Wenger has been keeping tabs on him for quite some time.

Those who have been watching Jeremy Menez play know exactly what he can offer a team. He’s equally adept using either foot, he’s got bags of pace (seriously, he’s lightning quick!) and he’s got an eye for a pass.

He typically plays down the wings because once he scampers through on goal, there’s just no stopping him, but given his pinpoint accurate passing, he can also do a job in the centre of midfield.

“(Former coach Carlo) Ancelotti was closer to his players – you felt important with him. Laurent Blanc has a different way of managing. I am a little misunderstood at PSG. I had a great time in Rome. I already speak the language. I know Serie A, I know everything about it. The adaptation would be easy”

“I am looking for a team that would make me rediscover the pleasure of playing football. Juve is a team that I really like – one of the best in Europe. It has a quality workforce, consisting solely of champions – including in my position. But competition does not scare me.”

It’s clear that he’s angling for a move back to Serie A, but I wonder if he’d change his tune if Arsenal were to come knocking.

With The Gunners he’d have the French connection and an opportunity to play for a side with a decent enough chance of winning silverware next season. He’d also get more game time than he’s currently getting at Parc des Princes (he’s made just 12 appearances this year).

I’d say that makes Arsenal and Menez a pretty good fit.

What’s your take? Would Jeremy Menez be a good option for the Gunners?
