Serie A ace ‘hopes’ for Arsenal move: should Wenger snap him up?

Mirko VucinicArsenal fans will be well aware that the clock is ticking now. They’ll have watched rival clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea spending big money and improving their squad. They’ll be well aware that Manchester City have no real pressing need to spend money, or improve, because they’ve already got a squad that looks capable of winning the Premier League.

What I’m trying to say here, is that now doesn’t look like the right time for Arsenal to sit still. The Gunners will be well aware that they’re in with a shot of silverware this season, but that won’t be possible if Olivier Giroud picks up a long-term injury or loses his form.

It would be a mistake to rely on the Frenchman too heavily, when all of the club’s options are either too raw and inexperienced, too injured or too much like Nicklas Bendtner.

It’s not like there aren’t players out there who would both be up for a move to the Emirates AND be capable of improving this Arsenal squad.

Take for instance, Juventus’ talented forward, Mirko Vucinic. The Mirror claim that the Montenegrin ‘still harbours hope’ that he’ll move to Arsenal before the end of the January transfer window. The clock’s ticking on that one. Will Arsene Wenger be able to pull this one out of the bag?

Given the club’s lack of options, a move for an experienced forward like Vucinic would be smart. The 30-year-old has never exactly been a prolific goal-scorer, but he’s a tidy forward who links up well with midfielders and can be effective from set-pieces. I think he’d get on particularly well with the likes of Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil.

He’s not the kind of signing that would be brought into replace Olivier Giroud. He’d be there to support him, whenever he needs a rest, or if he needs to recover from an injury. As a second-choice striker, Mirko Vucinic wouldn’t be a bad option. He probably wouldn’t break the bank either.

I’m sure Arsenal fans would rather see Julian Draxler make his way to the club, but that may be a touch unrealistic. A deal for Vucinic, however, is not out of the question and it would serve a clear purpose. As such, I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that it does come to pass.

What’s your take? Should the Gunners snap up this Juventus ace?

Mirko Vucinic will be a pretty fairly good buy. He is experience, talented and a matured international!
Will fit well in the Arsenal philosophy!
