Ilkay GundoganThe January transfer window is commonly known as ‘silly season’, but for Manchester United, that label could apply to just about everything that’s happened to the club since David Moyes took charge.

After years of success under Sir Alex Ferguson, the former Everton man inherited a squad that was devoid of fresh legs, creativity and craft. Fergie has done so much for Manchester United over the years, but his failure to replace Paul Scholes still seems to be a shocking oversight.

I’m not sure that Moyes knew what he was getting into. If he did, then surely he wouldn’t have signed Marouane Fellaini? Manchester United need someone who can pick a pass, unlock defences and provide service to the club’s talented strikers. There’s so much attacking flair in this United side, but it’s stifled thanks to a sluggish midfield and backwards tactics.

Still, it is January. The time’s right to start righting some of these wrongs. It’s time for David Moyes to get his wallet out!

We’ve heard that Manchester United have been pursuing Ilkay Gundogan for a while now. The Borussia Dortmund and Germany international is a very impressive talent indeed and wouldn’t look out of place in a Manchester United shirt.

The Mirror suggest that David Moyes is readying a £24m bid to try and tempt Dortmund into selling. That’s a lot of money, but given his reputation, ability and age, it’d be money well spent. What’s more, it may actually be enough to make a deal happen.

Gundogan only has 18 months left on his contract and talks regarding his future have dragged on for months. The Bundesliga side wont want to risk losing him on the cheap over the coming transfer window and could well opt to cash in. Manchester United could get a real bargain here, if David Moyes plays his cards right.

Yes, he’s had his share of injuries in recent times, but he strikes me as the kind of lad who will get back onto his feet quickly. He’s a tough individual, who doesn’t mind getting into physical battles, throwing his weight around and fighting for possession. But it’s his attacking flair that will help him to stand out.

His dynamic running, neat passing and smart footballing brain would be a real asset at Old Trafford. So here’s hoping that David Moyes can see this one through.

What’s your take? Should Manchester United snap up this £24m talent?

David Moyes should please get us Ikay Gundagan at least the price is fair enough to deal with get into serious discussions with them and see how you can seal this deal before weekend. Also push strongly on Ever Banega so that either of them would be in our line up against Chelsea this weekend. We need a new signing that would be part of our weekend match with Chelsea please no dulling any more.

Gundagon is better than all the other midfielders being linked to united… Like ander herrara, koke and pogba… Plus he will be cheaper as his contract is coming to an end and he will be available to play in the champions league this season… So it is common sense…
