Should Arsenal be on the hunt for this Premier League sensation?

Benteke’s form over the past two seasons has been impeccable and some would say he’s carried Aston Villa to safety with 23 goals in his 40 appearances for the club. With great form comes great interest from the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester United. All the interested parties are looking to place a bid of around £25 million in the January transfer season.

Paul Lambert will be desperate to keep the 6ft 3 striker at the club after a positive start to the season. Villa currently sit in 11^th place and will be trying to tempt him into signing a new four-year deal in the summer.

In terms of Arsenal’s forwards, the most respected has to be Olivier Giroud, with a recent streak of great form but no in form strike partner. Nicklas Bendtner is a complete drain of resources, doesn’t have a future at the club and says that he wants to leave Arsenal in January.

With Arsenal needing a top class striker Giroud, Benteke will be a good improvement to the squad, but he could turn out to be a major flop like Demba Ba did at Chelsea (and hasn’t been in great form in recent weeks).

If Spurs or United got their first or if he stayed at Villa there are other possible options that Arsenal could make a bid for. Real Madrid’s Benezma could move to the Emirates for roughly the same price as Benteke and, with his world class status, could be the difference between  the Gunners clinching their first title in 8 years and another season of disappointment.

Other possible options include Manchester United super sub Chicharito and Man City’s Edin Dzeko.

The Gunners are commonly known for rarely spending much money in the transfer windows but this could be their chance to find that vital edge that they have been missing for a number of years.
