Javier HernandezManchester United’s start to the season has been nothing short of a disaster. The fans would have hoped that Sir Alex’s replacement would have hit the ground running, brought in some players and produced some performances.

Unfortunately, he dithered in the summer transfer window and has failed to motivate his players to produce results. The fact that there’s already talk about Manchester United being out of the transfer market should tell you everything you need to know.

The club’s poor start will have fans looking desperately towards the January transfer market. Whilst the hope will be that Moyes opts to bring in a few world class footballers (in particular, a creative midfielder!), there’s a chance that some of the under-performers could be forced out.

Javier Hernandez could be one of those players. It’s not so much that he’s under-performed, it’s just that there’s no way past Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie into the United first team.

These two individuals have huge reputations and pick up massive pay-checks. Moyes has basically no choice but to play them. To leave them out of the squad would make a massive statement and put the Manchester United boss under even more pressure.

This isn’t particularly fair on Javier Hernandez. He’s always been loyal to Manchester United, works extremely hard and has a good goal scoring record. He’s a man who deserves regular first team football.

The man himself must be rather frustrated. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if he were weighing up his options.

But to let him go would be a huge mistake on Manchester United’s part. Luckily enough, David Moyes seems to realise this. Speaking recently about whether the Mexican will leave Old Trafford, he said:

“It is not a question for now. He will play a lot of games before the end of the season.” (Source: The Star)

That’s good to hear. It’s worth remembering that Robin Van Persie isn’t getting any younger and that Wayne Rooney is a moody lad. Javier Hernandez, however, has just hit his peak and is also an extremely patient individual.

He’s worth more to Manchester United as a player than what they’d get for him in the transfer market. That’s why Moyes has to keep hold of him.

What’s your take? Should Javier Hernandez start considering his options? Should Manchester United cash-in?
