Arsenal

The North London side currently look the most likely to win the league. After the opening week defeat, the club has turned around and started winning. Perhaps the most important part of winning is they are doing it in style. The signing of Mesut Ozil and the resurgence of Aaron Ramsey have pushed the side on. The one concern after the last window closed was that Wenger didn’t add enough depth. Arsenal dropped a lot of deadwood in the summer but they now need to add at least two players to the squad in January.

Positions

Cover up front for Olivier Giroud is the most important signing they need to make, and cover for the back line.

Who

El Shaarawy or Karim Benzema

Chelsea

The great one is still trying to figure out what his side really should be. Unlike the last time he was at Chelsea he doesn’t have a squad that matches his system. He really needs to focus on shoring up the back line and deciding what he really wants to do with his attacking options. For Chelsea there will be players going out during the window but they will need solid reinforcements to come in too.

Positions

A striker for sure. Fernando Torres, Demba Ba, and Samuel Eto’o are not good enough to lead the line. Perhaps a central defender and a holding midfielder.

Who

Fernando Llorente, Eliaqium Mangala, Giannelli Imbula.

Manchester City

As the last window closed many people in football gave credit to City for getting their business done early. The problem is that they missed key areas that needed quality to be added. The team is stacked up front, but the club made some strange moves letting Gareth Barry go, and they are very weak at the back. When Vincent Kompany is in the line up they are decent, without him they are a train wreck.

Positions

Central defender and holding midfielder.

Who

Eliaquim Mangala, Lars Bender

Manchester United

It was clear this summer that the lack of movement with Manchester United was tied to the new man taking over and wanting to take time to figure out what is needed. After the last couple of games it is more and more clear what is required for the club. So far the champions have looked very average and more troubling for Moyes, is the fact that they also look slow.

Positions

Defenders, a holding midfielder and someone with an ounce of creativity

Who

Luke Shaw, Eliaquim Mangala, Sami Khedira, Marek Hamsik
