Should Manchester United snap up this £16m Spanish sensation?

KokeWhen a player starts getting compared to Xavi, you know that he’s one to keep your eye on. Such is the case with Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, who has been attracting a lot of attention this season and could attract even more when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Madrid have been in sensational form this season and at the current time of writing have managed to pull off eight wins from eight games. Instrumental to these fine performances has been Koke, whose all-action midfield performances have often provided his club with plenty of ammunition moving forward.

Diego Costa has certainly been enjoying working alongside the Spaniard. Koke’s passing is slick, speedy and accurate. He moves the ball about with care and grace, has plenty of technical ability and can win matches on his day.

He’s a major reason why Madrid are currently joint top of the La Liga table, level on points with Barcelona. What’s more, at 21-years-old, he’s only going to get better (and better, and better!) Whether or not he makes a move to the Premier League some time in the future, he’s certainly worth keeping your eye on.

On a related note, Koke’s new contract with Atletico Madrid (which stretches until 2018), is believed to have a £16m release clause written into it. That would be a bargain fee for a truly fantastic young talent who’s on his way up in the game.

It’s only natural that Manchester United would be interested, given their current creativity deficit. According to The Star, Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to sign the Spaniard whilst he was still in charge. Now it seems that new Manchester United boss, David Moyes, wants to get in on the action.

United have a good group of midfielders. Michael Carrick, Shinji Kagawa and Marouane Fellaini are no slouches. But they don’t carry the cut and thrust that United need if they’re to win silverware this year.

Koke, on the other hand, is a player that excels at opening defenses, finding the gaps between play and supporting his centre-forwards. I’m sure the Spaniard would excel playing alongside the likes of Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney.

Let’s see if David Moyes can make it happen. If £16m is all it will take, it shouldn’t be too difficult… should it?

What’s your take? Would Koke be a good option for Manchester United?
