Putting Adnan Janzuaj into perspective

januzajAfter a sensational performance against Sunderland and an impressive pre-season, Adnan Janzuaj is garnering some hype. The 18-year-old Belgian native has been heavily tipped as the next big thing and a saviour for the so-far wholly underwhelming Manchester United.

The youngsters technical ability is unquestionable whilst his mental aspects mirror that of a player 10 years his senior.  However although he has an abundance of talent and potential, here is Adnan Januzaj put into perspective.

Despite being compared to the late great George Best it is imperative Adnan Janzuaj is nurtured and not rushed into action. A year ago Raheem Sterling had a string of sensational performances but was burnt out by January and has been unable to recapture that form since, in a similar to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin and Theo Walcott before him.

Janzuaj has decent height at 5’11 but has a very slender frame which could lead to him being injury prone and any player with his talent risks being targeted. However under David Moyes he has the ideal manager; Moyes is renowned for bringing youngsters into the first team early, but not over-exposing them to first-team football.

David Moyes commented that Janzuaj was eligible to play for England which has sparked a massive debate about whether foreigners should play for England. This is interesting because the Cricket and Rugby team is often loaded with southern hemisphere talent and not an eye lid is batted.

In recent memory there have been two previous cases where foreign players were tipped to star for England (Manuel Almunia and Mikel Arteta) and the same questions were asked because they weren’t English. It is important to acknowledge that Januzaj hasn’t declared which national team he will represent and it is arrogant of England to assume they have first dibs on him.

Adnan Janzuaj is going to be a true indicator to David Moyes intentions and he could define Moyes’ legacy. It has been reported that Moyes will offer Januzaj a £60,000per-week deal, which frankly is a ludicrous amount. At the end of the 2011/2012 season Alex Ferguson had Paul Pogba’s and Ravel Morrison’s contracts expiring, Ferguson would not give Pogba the £30,000per-week deal he demanded nor would he give Morrison the £20,000 per week deal he demanded.

It’s worth a mention that United were very aggressive in pursuing Pogba from Le Harve in 2009 and were subject to a FIFA investigation due to the signing, whilst Ferguson himself branded Morrison as the best talent to ever come through the united academy. Now Janzuaj is a talented player on a similar level to those two but is in not worth double their salary. Moyes needs to learn how play hardball if he is to be a successful manager.

Januzaj has all the talent in the world and is attracting attention off of Barcelona; however there hasn’t been an inclination from Janzuaj’s camp that he wants out of United. He figures to be a world class player and will hopefully thrive off the hype that’s been created.

he should sign an extra 5 year contract with manchester united and be able to rise through the ranks. he has a higher chance of playing first football with moyes since moyes is still building his team. with januzaj excelling well he could break christiano ronaldo transfer record from manchester united.
