Julian DraxlerJulian Draxler is a youngster who has been earning a lot of buzz over the last 12 or so months. The 20-year-old has a season-to-die for last year, nabbing 13 goals in 39 appearances, from the midfield.

But he’s more than just a goal threat. He’s already got excellent technical ability, despite his young age and has the wherewithal to use his gifts wisely, spread the play, link-up with team-mates and make magic happen!

Suffice to say, the lad is a little bit special. I would say that he’s one to keep an eye on, but he’s already producing top drawer performances week-on, week-out. I’d argue that Draxler is already ready for a move to a top club.

And if you believe the Papers, it won’t be long until he gets this move. The German international was linked to all and sundry throughout the summer transfer window and continues to attract attention from Europe’s top clubs.

The player recently spoke about his future and made it clear that he has fairly big ambitions: “I owe Schalke a lot, but my roots here are not so deep that I would not be able to leave. I’m telling you honestly that my dream is to play for one of the big clubs at some point.”

“If you want to achieve the big goals, which every world class player has, you have to play at the biggest clubs. These are Real, Barca, [Manchester] United, Arsenal and Chelsea.” (Source: The Star)

I’m sure Schalke will be disappointed to see the player speaking so openly about his desire to join one of these clubs, but his comments do seem fair enough. When you’re that naturally talented, it makes sense for you to move to a big club. Draxler won’t stay at Schalke for his entire professional career, so there’s no point playing fast and loose with the truth here.

Whilst Arsenal might best cultivate his technical gifts, I believe it’s Manchester United who need him most. I also can’t help but wonder if he listed the clubs above in order of preference (making United his preferred Premier League club).

Signing Draxler would give Manchester United an exciting chance to build a new team based on youth (with the likes of Adnan Januzaj, Tom Cleverley, Wilfried Zaha and Julian Draxler leading the charge). This team may not immediately produce results, but it’s easy enough to see them challenging for silverware before long.

He won’t come cheap for Manchester United, but he’d certainly make for a smart purchase.

What’s your take? Where will Julian Draxler end up?

Nice misleading headline. He clearly states Chelsea and Arsenal as two other Premier League teams he would love to join. That’s English journalism for ya. Maybe some of us should reply to that link looking for writers at the bottom of the article. We can’t be worse than this.

It’s true that Draxler is needed as a longterm plan player
