Arsene_wenger_415Over the last two-or-three years, the ‘Wenger out’ crowd has grown bigger and bigger. After years without silverware, losing their best players and witnessing some seriously listless performances, certain Arsenal fans just couldn’t take it any more.

Whilst there are few who deny Arsene Wenger’s credentials, knowledge or experience, these qualities amount to very little if he’s unable to back it up with tangible results. For the last half-decade or so, he just hasn’t been able to do that.

That was until deadline day of the summer transfer window, when Arsene Wenger masterminded a deal that just about nobody saw coming. For all his failings, the Professor managed to agree a deal for one of the very best footballers in the world. He signed Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal have fallen a long way in recent times, but were still able to attract a player of Ozil’s quality. In the interviews that followed the signing, it was made clear that Arsene Wenger’s trust, faith and coaching ability were the reason behind Ozil’s decision.

Then there is Jack Wilshere’s recent comments regarding Arsene Wenger: “I want to win things with Arsenal and I want to be there in the future, but if the boss leaves then things could change.” (Source: The Independent)

It seems that Wilshere’s Arsenal future is very much tied to Arsene Wenger.

It’s no coincidence that two of world football’s brightest young things place so much value in the Frenchman. He’s one of the game’s very best coaches and it seems bizarre that there’s a large group of people who would like to see him part ways with the club.

Who could Arsenal realistically attract that would do a better job?

It’s for this reason, I’d be glad to Arsene Wenger offered a new contract. I’m excited to see what the future holds for Arsenal club, now that he’s got a real budget behind him and is able to pull off these mammoth deals.

With the Frenchman’s deal set to expire at the end of the season, the club has to make a decision one-way or another soon. Interestingly, The Mirror suggest a new contract could be forthcoming, following the wave of good feeling that has resulted from Ozil’s signing.

I find it difficult to believe that Ozil would have moved to the Emirates if Wenger’s future was in question. It’s probably just a matter of finding the right time of announcing the deal. But why wait any longer? For the first time in a long while, Arsenal fans have something to cheer. Why not double-up on the good-feeling?

What’s your take? Should Arsenal offer Arsene Wenger a new deal?

I have summarized my response in one sentence “In Wenger we trust.” Say what you want about the man, the truth is that he is a genius. He has taken this football club to new heights and has taking all the stick from shortsighted fans. Things will only get better under Wenger, and with the new financial muscle AFC will reach greater heights.
