As things currently stand, Liverpool are slap bang at the top of the Premier League table. Indeed, things could hardly be going much better for Brendan Rodgers and co.
The Reds have spent big, brought a bunch of talented players in, rounded out their squad and have started the season well.
What’s most impressive, is that it’s clear there’s a lot more still to come from Liverpool. You get the feeling that if they’re really challenged, they could shift up a few gears and pull out a barn-stomping performance.
The 1-0 victory against Manchester United was impressive, but David Moyes’ boys offered very little going forward. The Red Devil’s midfield lacks a creative spark (like the one that Philippe Coutinho provides Liverpool) and struggled against Brendan’s well-marshaled team.
Liverpool will face bigger challenges this season. I’m hoping that they will rise to meet them. I’m hoping that they’ll get stronger and stronger. Heck, we haven’t even seen Luis Suarez yet.
Given the good start, some pundits have started tipping Liverpool for the Premier League title. This, I feel, is a little premature.
Luckily, Brendan Rodgers appears to have his head screwed on: “We won’t be getting carried away. We have got to continue to improve. Initially we want to try and get into the top four and be in that conversation as long as we can.” (Source: The BBC)
That sounds about right to me. To aim for the Premier League title at this stage would be churlish. But a top four finish has never looked so achievable for the Reds.
So many of the League’s top teams are in flux. Manchester United don’t look like the same force they were under Sir Alex Ferguson. Arsenal look shaky and uncertain. Manchester City have already slipped up against Cardiff City. Chelsea look to have reverted back into a dull, defensive team, under Jose Mourinho.
There’s definitely room at the top for Liverpool. The Reds’ squad is as strong as it’s been for quite some time. With Brendan Rodgers leading the troops, who’s to say they won’t finish above the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham?
Earning Champions League football should be the aim this year. After that, they can start aiming for the top of the table. As always, it’s important to monitor expectations and take things incrementally.
Anything else would be too much to ask. Brendan Rodgers seems to know his task – let’s hope he’s given a pressure-free environment in which to pull it off.

A flurry of activity at both ends of the window saw the Reds bring in eight players for a total of just under £50million. Offering a combination of youth, experience, flair and solidity, Liverpool supporters can be quietly confident about the season in store. Kolo Toure was a shrewd acquisition to provide cover for departed hero Jamie Carragher, Victor Moses provides experience and versatility, and Mamadou Sakho is tipped as a future French captain. Midway through the window the big debate was around how Liverpool will get on without Luis Suarez, and now the question is how will they fit him in? Not a bad predicament for Brendan to have.
We are at the top, without conceding any. These acheivements are of cause without last years top scorer. Soon the new boys will join up. This year BR has particularly emphasised in the defence and it has become the meanest in the league(so far). Aspas, Alberto,Coutinho, Gerrard,Henderson so far played according to what being asked. Soon BR will unleash them when its appropriate. When that happens with Suarez joins back, it will be something special..As for the time being lets enjoy the view from the peak.
