Mamadou SakhoGiven the clear lack of depth in Liverpool’s squad last season, I’m not surprised that Brendan Rodgers went for quantity in the transfer window.

What does surprise me, however, is just how much quality he’s managed to bring in. Given the club’s budget, it’s extremely impressive just how many good players that the Reds have bought. Liverpool football club is now considerably stronger than it was at this point last season.

We haven’t even seen Luis Suarez thus far this season and there’s still plenty of reason for excitement. The fact that they’re currently nestled at the top of the Premier League table speaks for itself. Yes, we’re only three games into a long season, but Liverpool are the only club that still have a 100% record. Long may it continue.

Liverpool’s new signings have brought with them a wealth of good feeling. I’d like to use this article to highlight Mamadou Sakho, who I believe to be the Reds’ best signing this summer.

Given all the speculation regarding the futures of Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger, it’s quite something that Brendan Rodgers managed to keep hold of both of them and to bolster his defensive ranks by adding Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho to his squad. Liverpool are going to be extremely difficult to break down this season.

Sakho is believed to have set Liverpool back £18m. That’s a significant investment from the Reds, but I expect the Frenchman to provide value for money.

At 23-years-old, hes already earned 14 caps for France was named the country’s young player of the year back in 2011. He’s a physically imposing player who plays with such drive and energy that it’s easy enough to foresee him becoming a Liverpool legend over the coming years.

His vision and reading of the game are excellent and he’ll fit right into the Premier League. Brendan Rodgers has been particularly effusive in his praise. Speaking about the Sakho deal, he said:

“I think it’s a massive one… At his age, the potential he has and his attributes – he’s really powerful, quick and offers us balance as well as he can play left-side centre-half or at left-back – means there is real hot competition, not just in games but every day in training, and that will see us improve.” (Source: Liverpool Daily Post)

That sounds spot on to me. Signing Mamadou Sahko is a step in the right direction for Liverpool in just about every regard. Let’s hope the young Frenchman helps the club to maintain its 100% record for just a little longer.

What’s your take? What was Liverpool’s best signing this summer?

For me,liverpool goalkeeper is the best signing,as he shows dat we can we various games by stating dat”without him we could lost”,he’s like the ex-united dutch keeper, where united were able to score one goal n keep cleansheet.Though others a ok.
