The excitement is back on: Manchester United in for TWO Real Madrid stars!

Mesut OzilWhichever so way you choose to look at it, Manchester United have had a slow, unsuccessful summer. Whilst Premier League rivals Man City have made some smart additions this summer (I can’t wait to see the likes of Stevan Jovetic and Fernandinho on a regular basis), United have stood still.

Thus far, Guillermo Varela, a 20-year-old Uruguayan right-back is the only signing that United have made this summer. Hardly one to get the blood pumping.

Whilst the Red Devils already have a strong squad, Sir Alex’s exit, Mourinho’s arrival and other factors in between, necessitate further additions. Luckily enough, David Moyes appears to acknowledge this need.

His pursuit of Thiago Alacantara and Cesc Fabregas this summer prove that he’s on the hunt for signings, as do the following quotes:

“We’re involved in several players we’re looking at and that will continue. Will we get them before the deadline? I hope so, but we’re working very hard to do so. It was always going to be a difficult window for me personally. I joined on July 1, which has given me a short period.” (Source: ESPN)

I’m sure this words will have been music to fan’s ears. Even better is The Star‘s claim that Manchester United have contacted Real Madrid regarding Luka Modric and Mesut Ozil. These are the kind of big name signings that would surely establish Manchester United as title-favourites this season.

It’s clear that Manchester United are in the market for a new creative midfielder. These two certainly fit the billing.

Either player would significantly improve this Manchester United side, but Mesut Ozil must surely hold the most appeal. The German midfielder is among the best creative midfielders in world-football. He has an uncanny ability to buy himself time and space on the ball and is more than capable of delivering a killer pass.

I, for one, would love to see him in the Premier League.

Unfortunately for Manchester United, he’s one of Madrid’s best players and the club won’t be too keen to sell. David Moyes would have to cough up a significant sum to make any potential deal happen. It would amount to considerably more than what United were willing to offer Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas.

But if they could pull off a signing of this magnitude, the Red Devils would be in an extremely strong position moving forward. It could well be enough to secure them the title once more.

What’s your take? Should United be chasing Luka Modric and Mesut Ozil?

Modric ayes thats a possible move but Ozil thats leading us to another disappointment Real won’t let him leave. Lets go for Wilian after all they are technically like for like and he’s available wants Champions League action and is cheaper. If Modric fails lets get Kondogbia he’s technically a better CM than Felliani more disciplined in tackles around our box and possesses the same aerial presence at 6.2 feet.
