Could this ‘£80m package’ secure Manchester United their man?

cristiano-ronaldoWe’ve heard sporadically about Manchester United’s interest in Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this summer, but it wasn’t until recently that The Star went in hard on the story.

This source claims that Manchester United and Real Madrid have been in heated negotiations for the Portuguese winger for the last couple of weeks. It has been suggested that an £80m package could soon be agreed and that United are ‘confident’ of getting their man.

These are bold claims. If there is any truth to this story, Manchester United could well have the Premier League title wrapped up for the next two-or-three seasons. This deal would have massive ramifications across European football.

There’s been talk before of Ronaldo being ‘unhappy’ at Real Madrid. He hasn’t exactly been in a hurry to agree a new deal with his current club. But what really seems to be bolstering United’s chances of signing Ronaldo is the fact that Real are on the hunt for Bale.

The Welsh wizard has an outrageously high price-tag. The Galacticos could use a cash-injection to get their man. Selling Cristiano Ronaldo would certainly provide this. They could take the £80m they would get from United and invest it directly into a deal with Tottenham for Bale.

Whilst United ran-away with the Premier League last season, they were noticeable weak down the wings. Antonio Valencia appears to have lost that special quality that made him stand out the season before last. Nani is on his way out at the club. When Ashley Young isn’t playing well, he offers next to nothing.

Sir Alex Ferguson had obviously picked up on this. That’s why he struck a deal for Crystal Palace starlet, Wilfried Zaha. David Moyes looks to be aiming higher.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the second best player in world football. He would be easily the best player in the Premier League. Whilst he’d make for a costly investment, he would more-or-less single-handedly solve the club’s issues down the flanks.

He’d also move t-shirts by the thousands, create endless good will and belief and help United to earn further on the field success. He won’t exactly ‘pay for himself’, but there are a number of perks to signing a highly marketable player like Ronaldo.

This is the signing that everybody needs to keep their eyes on. If this one goes through, the Premier League could be about to get all-too-predictable.

What’s your take? Could Manchester United really pull off this sensational deal?

1st it was thiago then bale & fabregas and now ronaldo baines and Fellini . Oh yeh don’t forget falco 2.
I’m sick of of these bullshit stories. We been linked to every1 this season won’t be suprised tomorow if Man U are imaginary bidding for Messi and Neymar. Wat a joke.

Moyes you ain’t doing any favours for your self as you move slower then a slug in the transfer window.

We only need 1 midfielder realistically and he can’t even do that.

Good luck in PL moyes an Hopfully you will act fast when needed to change games.
