From The Return Of The ‘Happy One’, To The Crappy U21s – This Week In Futbol

|

A sign that all may not be well at the Liberty stadium is the ongoing catfight between Huw Jenkins, the chairman, and Bayram Tutumlu, Laudrup’s agent.  Jenkins told Sky Sports that the club have ‘severed ties’ with the agent, the agent hit back by saying he is glad he no longer has to work with the chairman.  Ouch.

Its a bit he said, she said, but with Laudrup currently bookies favourite for the PSG job this installment won’t help the Swans in the slightest.

Laudrup is also quoted as unhappy with the transfer budget available to him.  The Swansea style of football created by Martinez, developed by Rodgers was at its very best for the majority of  last season.  Laudrup was able to find the right balance between  a passing football

You get the sense that Laudrup’s days may be numbered.

As happy as ‘arry

QPR manager Harry Redknapp is not a happy man, that’s for sure.  It’s reported that he is ready to leave his job and it’s all down to a transfer that failed to materialise.

So, who was this player?  Messi? Ronaldo? Lewandowski? No it was in fact Wayne Bridge.  Once a member of the England squad, Bridge is probably more famous for having his missus shagged by John Terry.

Bridge, now of Reading, put in some solid performances on loan from Manchester City at Brighton last season but he’s hardly worth quitting your job over.

I’m sure deep down Harry is loving his time at Loftus Road.  After all, what’s not to like?

Cissé thinks sponsorship is totally wronga

Newcastle striker Papiss Cissé has informed his club that he will not wear a shirt with new sponsors Wonga’s logo.  This is due to the player being a strict muslim, under sharia law profiting from lending money is forbidden.

Cissé should be applauded on a political level for taking a stance against loan sharks dressed as charity like the company in question.

However, Newcastle are unlikely to back down over the issue.  Despite fans’ opposition, they previously turned St James’ Park into an e-mail address to make money.

But manager Alan Pardew has told his players to forget about the sponsorship opposition and just concentrate on giving it 4214%

Barking mad

The oddest stories of the week have come from Argentina…

The first of two red cards came in an international match against Ecuador.  During Argentina’s World Cup qualifier, Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano was sent off for kicking a driver off the medical buggy.

It gets stranger, Mascherano was the player receiving medical attention at the time.

The second red card was during a league game where a player was sent off for violently throwing a dog.

After being substituted Jose Gimenez saw the stray dog, picked it up by the neck and hurled it at a fence.

Have they ever heard of anger management in Argentina?
