Henrikh MkhitaryanLiverpool fans, what would you like to hear first: good news or bad news?

Just kidding, you don’t have a choice, we’re going to start with the bad news. According to Shakhtar Donetsk, they are yet to open negotiations with the Reds concerning their star midfielder, Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Considering that Henrikh was arguably the most exciting player that Liverpool have been linked to this summer (and the Reds have been linked to a whole cavalcade of stars), there is plenty of cause for disappointment here.

We’ve seen that Brendan Rodgers is willing to act quickly to get his man. He’s been getting deals done with a quiet efficiency this summer. So why are the Reds yet to inquire about Shakhtar’s Armenian ace?

Shakhtar’s General Manager, Sergey Palkin recently told the Press: He has not had any contact with Liverpool. I’m confident that reports of negotiations are just rumours. Liverpool have not made an enquiry about the player. We have not heard that Mkhitaryan wants to leave. All questions about his behaviour need to be addressed to him.” (Source: The Mirror)

This means that Liverpool’s interest at this stage is questionable. Is Brendan Rodgers still weighing up his options?

It’s also worth noting that Palkin questions Mkhitaryan’s behaviour. That’s because the Armenian has got himself into a spot of bother recently: “Mkhitaryan has not appeared for training. We do not know if he will arrive in the near future. He will be fined.

Not only has he skipped training, he’s also entered radio silence. Whilst player misbehaviour shouldn’t be cause for celebration, I do think this is good news for Liverpool. It’s tangible proof that the player’s mind is elsewhere. It seems to suggest that Mkhitaryan doesn’t view himself as part of the Shakhtar team, so hasn’t bothered to turn up.

So perhaps there’s something to Liverpool’s interest after all.

I can’t help but hope so. He’s the most exciting player that the Reds have been linked to for a while. His goal-scoring record is remarkable (26 goals in 39 games last year), he’s a hard-worker and he gets in dangerous positions.

He’d be a welcome tonic from the likes of Joe Allen. Sure, he’d cost a small fortune, but he could be just what the Reds need.

What’s your take? Should Liverpool go ahead with their move for Mkhitaryan, or is the deal dead?

Guys; have anyone read the article by the fella by the name Alex Peace? This guy is either very confident or just plain desperate for Spurs to sign Mkhitaryan. Looks like theres truth in what some of us suspected.Spurs are into every player we targeted.Cant be coincidence. Spurs really dont have any talent scouts, they just pay few guys to follow LFC scouts and watch who we’re looking. Wonder what will they do if our scouts go to Thailand to see elephant football?? Elephants in White Heart Lane!!
